It seems as though Pochettino is starting to turn things around
Who saw that one coming? Spurs hit five past Chelsea as Jose's men fail yet again away from home.
Tottenham continued their fine recent form with a brilliant 5-3 win over London rivals Chelsea in what was a thrilling London derby.
Having both drawn on Sunday the sides were desperate to get three points, especially Spurs who went into the clash without a victory in their last 10 matches against the Blues.
Following a busy week, both managers made alterations to their line-ups, with the home side making three changes as Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and Nabil Bentaleb came into the team for Vlad Chiriches, Ben Davies and Benjamin Stambouli. Chelsea themselves also shuffled their pack, bringing back Cesar Azpilicueta, Willian and Oscar in place of Filipe Luis, John Obi Mikel and Andre Schurrle.
Just to add to the mix, Manchester City's win over Sunderland earlier in the day had seen them draw level with Jose Mourinho's men at the top of the standings.
It all meant the pressure was on the Blues to deliver against Spurs, who have recently started to show signs that they're finally getting to grips with Mauricio Pochettino's philosophy.
The Lilywhites started well, with Nacer Chadli forcing a smart save from Thibaut Courtois, while Ryan Mason also went close following a driving run from midfield.
It was Chelsea who took the lead though, Diego Costa getting the goal following good play by Oscar. However, Spurs didn't fold and grabbed an equaliser through Harry Kane, the youngster beating two men before firing in from 25 yards for a magnificent strike to send the fans at White Hart Lane into rapture.
The match continued at the same frantic pace and, after good pressure, Tottenham went ahead just before the break, Danny Rose reacting quickest to fire home when Nacer Chadli's effort had hit the post.
However, that wasn't the end of the drama in the opening 45, and it was Kane again who was the thorn in Chelsea's side. He drew a foul just inside the box from Gary Cahill and Andros Townsend fired in from the penalty spot to send his side in at the break 3-1 up.
The game continued at the same ridiculous speed after the interval and it was almost inevitable that there would be more goals before the end.
After a couple of near misses from both sides, it was the inspired Kane who added to the scoring, using his body to get past Nemanja Matic before gliding away from John Terry and slotting home.
Chelsea refused to give up and, with half an hour to go, Eden Hazard handed them a lifeline, the Blues midfielder making the most of a mistake by Federico Fazio with some nice interplay before the Belgian showed his class to play the ball past Hugo Lloris.
Opportunities continued to be created at both ends, but Spurs finally put the game to bed on 78 minutes when, after more good work by Kane, the tireless Chadli got his goal, firing low under the helpless Courtois.
Despite the deficit, Jose Mourinho's men continued to battle and got a late consolation when Terry bundled home. They could have further closed the gap through Cesc Fabregas, who saw a cunning effort with the outside of his right foot cannon off the woodwork.
In the end Tottenham held on for a rare win over Chelsea and, having avoided defeat in their in their last six outings, it appears Pochettino has now found a way to get the best from his players.
However, Chelsea's poor run on the road continues and they have now won just one of their last four away from Stamford Bridge. After finding themselves eight points clear last month, they are now level with Manchester City and appear to have plenty of work to do if they're to get back on track.
