Murray should face few problems defeating Matosevic
Andy Murray is back in action at the Australian Open on Wednesday and Sean Calvert expects the Brit to score a comfortable win over home hope Marinko Matosevic...
Day two in Melbourne was another up and down affair, with two more of my 'potential upsets' winning and two more of my picks losing in fifth set deciders.
It's been a great tournament for the 'upsets' bets, with four from five win in all, as Paulo Lorenzi and Marius Copil completed that selection of tips with straight sets wins.
The only loser was Elias Ymer, who went down in five sets to Go Soeda after leading 2-1, and Dusan Lajovic was a deciding set loser too - this time to Sergiy Stakhovksy - as an injury to Julien Benneteau took down my Daily Acca.
Benny suffered a recurrence of an old injury against Benjamin Becker and may pull out of the doubles as a consequence.
On to Wednesday, then, and there are a couple of opportunities to indulge in a couple of big-priced punts on correct set scores, with the matches involving Ivo Karlovic and Roger Federer looking two possible wagers.
Karlovic takes on Nick Kyrgios and the Aussie crowd at around 6am UK time and for me Kyrgios doesn't look 100 percent fit and I'd expect Dr Ivo to win this one, but set one 7-6 looks very likely here.
Karlovic doesn't have the best tie break record and Kyrgios had a higher winning percentage in them last season, so the 4.33n/a about the 19-year-old looks a better choice than the 3.7511/4 about the Croatian.
Federer faces Simone Bolelli at around 4am UK time and the Italian has been playing well of late and can keep things close for a while with his big serve and heavily struck forehand.
The Swiss was taken to a first set breaker by the Italian towards the end of last season in Davis Cup on indoor hard and 9.08/1 about a repeat of that score looks big given the good touch that Bolelli has been in so far in 2015.
As for Andy Murray, well, he was made to work harder than I thought he would be by Yuki Bhambri in round one, but he'll love this draw against his pal Marinko Matosevic, who doesn't have the weapons to trouble the Scot.
This pair met in the exhibition Hopman Cup a couple of weeks ago and the result was another easy win for Murray, whose seven sets against the Aussie have all finished either 6-1, 6-2 or 6-3 to the world number six.
The 6-3 to Murray at 4.33n/a looks a decent bet there, as does the minus 7.5 games on the handicap at around 1.758/11.
Elsewhere, Sam Groth looks likely to be the one to benefit from the exertions of Thanasi Kokkinakis, who went very long against Ernests Gulbis in round one, but I don't rate Groth too highly apart from on serve and I'm not sure the 1.728/11 about him winning is great value.
The winner of that one plays the winner of Bernard Tomic and Philipp Kohlschreiber and despite Bernie's win over the German in Sydney that one looks a really tough call over five sets.
I was tempted by Jeremy Chardy over Andreas Seppi, but the Frenchman has been priced up a tad short and perhaps the overs is a better option in that one, with a real grind likely.
