Everyone in Portugal loves a Sporting da Covilha home win
Santa Clara make the long journey to Covilha today and Tobias Gourlay says they might regret ever setting out
Sporting da Covilha v Santa Clara
Wednesday 15:00
No one landed anything in south London yesterday. Not Millwall, not Reading and certainly not us. 0-0.
Back to Portugal today, but we've slipped a division.
Sporting da Covilha are up to ninth in the 24-team Segunda Liga after winning 3/4 over the last month or so.
At Estadio Jose Santos Pinto the Lions' recent record is evening better: they're W7-D1-L0 since mid-September. There have been 20 goals scored in those eight matches - and 19 have belonged to the home side.
Today's visitors have travelled over from the Azores, but might wonder why they bother. Ensconced in the relegation zone, Santa Clara lost 3/3 in 2015 and have been churning out the worst kinds of away result for a while longer than that.
They haven't won on the road since August (W0-D3-L6), losing 5/5 since early November and scoring just twice across the most recent six.
