Eibar are flying right now
It's Spanish action for Paul Robinson this evening as he thinks that Real Sociedad will let down odds-on backers at home to Eibar.
Sociedad v Eibar
Saturday January 24, 21:00 GMT
There is no denying that Sociedad have improved since David Moyes joined the club but following their impressive 1-0 win over Barcelona, they have played four, drawn two and lost two. That can sometimes happen after a big result and the players will have to re-focus if they want to continue to climb the table.
The Basque Country outfit have home advantage tonight but they were beaten in front of their own fans last weekend by Rayo Vallecano. Prior to that it was just four wins out of 10 at Anoeta and David Moyes' strength has always been avoiding defeat rather than going out and winning games.
Eibar have surprised many this season following their promotion from the Spanish second tier. They are up in eighth place in La Liga having picked up 27 points from their 19 fixtures. That's quite a remarkable achievement considering they won just three of their first 11 outings.
Gaizka Garitano's side come into this game having lost only one of their last seven league matches - four of which were victories. They are undefeated in four on the road and that includes trips to Sevilla and Espanyol. In fact, of their 10 games away from Ipurua, only three resulted in a loss - two of which were at Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
I understand why the hosts are odds-on for this clash but if you delve a little deeper, you will see that this isn't as straightforward for Sociedad as it sounds. That's why, with their price trading at around the 1.845/6 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
