Against All Odds: A night of goals in the Chilean Primera

Expect the net to bulge this evening

The week begins in Chile for Paul Robinson as he thinks there will be goals when Barnechea entertain Audax Italiano.

Barnechea v Audax Italiano
Monday January 19, 00:15 GMT

It's been a terrible start to the second semester of the season for Barnechea as they have lost both games so far. They had finished in 10th place in the Apertura but it is worth noting that they only took one point from their final three fixtures.

It's the goals we're concentrating on here though and with five conceded already this term, the defence are clearly struggling. Francisco Bozn's side are yet to find the net themselves but the blank at home to Santiago Wanderers last time was a rare one in front of their own fans.

Audax Italiano have made a good start to their campaign as after pulling off a shock 2-0 win at Union Espanola, they picked up a decent point at home to Antofagasta. They of course would have been hoping to win that game, but four points from a possible six is a more than acceptable return for a club who missed out on the top five last term.

Jorge Pellicer's men have seen both of their matches go under 2.5 goals this semester but in the Apertura their fixtures were averaging 2.76 goals each time. A total of 11 of their 17 outings finished with at least three goals and in their last seven on the road, they've kept just two clean sheets and only failed to score once themselves.

There's a good chance that both teams will get on the scoresheet tonight and at the odds, I'm willing to gamble that we'll see a third. That's why, at around the 1.9310/11 mark, I have to make under 2.5 goals my lay of the day.
