Champions League on Betfair: Man City 14/1 to lift trophy after unlikely qualification

Samir Nasri scored Man City's crucial opener tonight

Despite missing many of their star players Man City had enough quality to win in Rome and book their place in the next round of the Champions League. Mike Norman brings us tonight's In-Play odds details...

Having been matched at a high of 300.0299/1 when trailing Bayern Munich in Matchday 5, Manchester City are now just 15.014/1 to win the Champions League following a 0-2 win at Roma this evening.

Starting the match without the star quartet of Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure, David Silva, and Sergio Aguero, City looked to have a big task on their hands against a talented Roma side who knew that a 0-0 draw would be enough to send them through at the Citizens' expense.

And 0-0 it was at the interval with that scoreline being matched at 3.613/5 in the Half Time Score market.

But just when it looked like Manuel Pellegrini was going to bring Silva into the action, up popped Samir Nasri to score a magnificent goal on the hour mark and put City in the driving seat. The Frenchman was matched at 15.5n/a to open the scoring.

With Pellegrini's men now needing to keep Roma at bay to secure their path through to the knock-out stage of the competition it was a little surprising that Silva was eventually introduced with around 25 minutes remaining.

But with the clock running down it was City who scored again, Nasri putting in Pablo Zabaleta - matched at 38.037/1 to score anytime - to slide the ball home much to the delight of the City away fans.

Man City were matched at a high of 3.613/5 In-Play to win the game, while the 0-2 Correct Score was matched at 23.022/1.

In tonight's other game featuring an English side Chelsea responded well to their first defeat of the season last weekend by beating Sporting Lisbon 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Cesc Fabregas opened the scoring from the penalty spot (Penalty Taken matched at 4.67/2) in the eighth minute to reward those who backed him at 14.013/1 in the First Goalscorer market, and further goals from Andre Schurrle and John Mikel Obi sealed the comfortable victory.

The 3-1 Correct Score was matched at 18.017/1 on the night, while Jose Mourinho's men are currently available to back at 7.413/2 to lift the trophy next May.
