Opta Stats: Man United skipper to fire past Aston Villa

Wayne Rooney has scored 12 times since becoming captain of both his club and his country

Wayne Rooney, Wilfried Bony, Charlie Austin and Steven Naismith are likely to ripple Premier League nets this weekend...

Aston Villa v Man United (Saturday, 15:00)

Wayne Rooney has scored more Premier League goals against Aston Villa than he has versus any other opponent (12)

Both as a prodigy at Everton and a seasoned pro at Man United, Rooney has always loved netting against Aston Villa. The England and Red Devils skipper scored twice against the Villans the last time these two sides met in a 4-1 United victory, and given his current form - Rooney has bagged three goals in his past four games - Villa will not be looking forward to facing the 29-year-old.

Recommended Bet: Back Rooney to score @ 2.47/5

Hull v Swansea (Saturday, 15:00)

Wilfried Bony has netted more goals in 2014 than any other player (20) and only 11 fewer than Hull have overall (31)

When he netted twice against Man City on New Year's Day, Bony might well have suspected that 2014 was going to be a fine year, and the Ivorian has barely stopped scoring since. He has bagged eight in his past ten Premier League outings, and he has drawn first blood in six of those games.

Recommended Bet: Back Bony to score first @ 5.79/2

QPR v West Brom (Saturday, 15:00)

Charlie Austin has had a hand in eight goals in his last eight Premier League appearances (six goals, two assists)

According to the number wizards at Opta, there is just one player in England's top four tiers to have been involved in a higher percentage of his side's goals than Austin, who has scored or assisted 59% of QPR's league strikes this term. Chesterfield's Eoin Doyle is the only man more vital to his team's attack, so maybe have a dabble on him netting as well this weekend but, most importantly, don't forget to back Austin to pierce the Baggies' defence.

Recommended Bet: Back Austin to score @ 2.6613/8

Southampton v Everton (Saturday, 15:00)

Steven Naismith has scored four goals from just eight shots on target in the Premier League this season

The Scottish forward has signed a new three-year deal with Everton this week, and it's well worth backing him to celebrate signing on the dotted line with a goal against a Southampton side in rapid decline. Naismith's impressive conversion rate suggests that if he gets a couple of chances, he'll take one, and a Saints side ravaged with injuries and suspensions are likely to prove porous.

Recommended Bet: Back Naismith to score @ 4.1n/a
