Liverpool step up chase for Petr Cech plus other transfer rumours

Could Petr Cech be Anfield bound?

Petr Cech is one of the finest goalkeepers in the world but can't get a game at Chelsea, could he be the man for Liverpool?

Liverpool are stepping up their interest in Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The 32-year-old has been demoted to number two at Stamford Bridge due to the form of Thibaut Courtois and the Czech Republic international is reportedly seeking a move away in January.

Liverpool are the firm favourites to sign the shot-stopper at the moment as manager Brendan Rodgers appears to have lost faith with Simon Mignolet.

The Belgium international has made a catalogue of errors this season and Rodgers' patience appears to be wearing thin as the Reds prepare a January bid for Cech.

There are also reports that Rodgers is keeping an eye on Asmir Begovic and will make an offer for the Stoke City star if he can't land Chelsea's experienced keeper.

Sticking with the rumours regarding the number one's and Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are said to be weighing up a move for Norwich's John Ruddy, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 28-year-old has been a star performer for the club for several years and the one-time England international could jump at the chance of leaving the Championship for the top-flight again.

Norwich are unwilling to sell but, if an offer around the 5million mark comes in the Canaries could find it hard to keep hold of one of their most prized assets.

Moving on and The Sun are reporting that Serie A outfit Napoli have joined a long list of potential suitors for Aston Villa and Holland defender Ron Vlaar.

Vlaar is out of contract in the summer, and with the interest of Manchester United and Juventus very apparent, an exit from Villa Park is expected.

The Villans may decide to cash in on their captain in January so they don't lose the centre-back on a free transfer, meaning a cut-price deal could be on the cards.

Staying in the Premier League and reports from the Daily Star are suggesting that Sunderland and Leicester are targeting Hull City captain Curtis Davies.

The defender has been an ever-present under Tigers boss Steve Bruce and the performances of the 29-year-old look to have caught the eye of two sides struggling in the table.

It is thought that an offer of at least 6million would be needed to prise Davis away from the club he only joined back in 2013.

Finally, the Daily Express are reporting that Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all interested in Monaco's Portuguese playmaker Joao Moutinho.

The 28-year-old has been one of the best performers for the Ligue 1 club this season, guiding them through to the last-16 of the Champions League.

The Premier League trio are hoping to take advantage of the rumoured dressing room unrest at Monaco but they will need to offer around 30mllion for the midfielder which may prove to be a stumbling block for a January switch.
