The Goalscorer Gamble: Back Eriksen to continue 2014 run

Can Christian Eriksen continue to provide midfield goals for Spurs when they face Burnley?

Dan Fitch is looking to bounce back with five more goalscorer tips and fancies Christian Eriksen to continue scoring against Burnley.

The one thing that this Goalscorer Gamble column does for me is to keep me grounded. Whenever I'm getting cocky and thinking that this picking goalscorers malarkey is easy, it always kicks me in the teeth hard enough to remind me that it's not.

Last week we (OK... I) scored a big fat zero. Had Wilfried Bony scored the first goal instead of biding his time, then things might have been different. But he didn't.

This week we start back on the road to redemption, so it's perhaps appropriate that we begin at a club that are always trying to recover from a recent disaster. Spurs have now won two games on the bounce but their struggles at home suggests that their match with Burnley will be a tough one.

Tottenham may be inconsistent, yet one of their players isn't. Christian Eriksen has scored three goals from his last five Premier League games and if you exclude penalties, is the league's top scoring midfielder of 2014, with 12 goals to his name this calendar year. Back him at generous odds of 3.02/1 to add to his tally.

Another London side at home facing lowly opposition are West Ham, who host rock bottom Leicester. The Foxes have not won any of their last 17 trips to the capital and are without a win from their last 11 Premier League outings.

Last week I tipped Diafra Sakho to score at Sunderland unsuccessfully, but at this time of year you have to give people second chances. With seven goals this season from ten games, he's worth a punt at 6.25/1 to open the scoring.

We stay in England for the Championship clash between Nottingham Forest and Leeds. Forest are in poor form but their striker Britt Assombalonga has carried on scoring. The striker has 12 goals, of which three goals have come in his last four games.

Assombalonga goes up against a Leeds side that have conceded in nine of their last ten games. Back him at 2.35/4 to find the net.

To Holland next for PSV's game against the Go Ahead Eagles and a striker who's in a really hot run of form. Luuk de Jong scored a hat-trick against Feyenoord last week and has scored eight goals in his last six games.

De Jong is back to his best after unsuccessful spells in Germany and England. Having returned to Holland the goals have begun to flow again and the 24-year old seems to have a second chance to fulfil his undoubted potential.

He goes up against a Eagles defence that like Leeds have conceded in nine of their last ten league games. Back the Dutch international to score the first goal at a likely price of 5.04/1.

Finally we end things in France, with another striker who can't stop scoring. Alexandre Lacazette is Ligue 1's top scorer with 15 goals and has scored five times in his last three outings.

Lacazette's Lyon side are third in Ligue 1 and face a tough trip to fifth-placed Bordeaux team, which of course serves to plump up Lacazette's price to score. Bordeaux have conceded in each of their last three games, so have faith in Lacazette to convert at juicy odds of 3.02/1.
