Wrong end son!
In today's edition of This Week in Football, Adrian North recalls the hilarious Iain Dowie OG at Stockport, so we thought it was a good time to have a laugh at a few more that flew into the wrong net...
It's common knowledge that being a professional footballer is a sensational way to make a living.
They're idolised, well paid and all for just a few hours work a week. Now and again it's nice to bring them down a peg or two - to remind ourselves they can make mistakes like your everyday man or women.
So, on the anniversary of Iain Dowie's thundering moment of awfulness (reminder below) we've collated the top-five best own goals of all-time.
5) Oh Pollock...
QPR won't need reminding too much about Jamie Pollock. When Man City were just another ordinary club, scrapping for points without much success, they regularly flirted with relegation. In 1999 they fell through the trap door into the third tier. It wasn't all Pollock's fault but this sublime own goal against Rangers contributed hugely to their downfall.
4) Top Brass
This one makes a little bit of wee come out every time. It's just pure brilliance from Chris Brass, who wrote himself into own goal folklore with this calamitous effort. He remains the only man in the world to this day to score an own goal and break his nose with one swift swing of his right boot.
3) A day to forget
It takes a special player to score one own goal in a Premier League game, it takes a phenomenal one to bag a brace. Step forward Jon Walters. He took uselessness to a different level against Chelsea in 2013 by achieving this remarkable feat. Oh, he managed to miss a penalty too.
2) Sprake a leg
You can usually forgive a goalkeeper for an own goal. An unlucky ricochet here a bad bump there. But then there is the case of Gary Sprake. His dodgy baseball cap makes it even worse.
1) Don't blame it on the sunshine...
They broke the mould when they made Djimi Traore. All that was missing from his a CV of football calamities was a headline own-goal - until a FA Cup clash with Burnley. It's a magical finish. We do like to give credit where it's due here though and you can witness Traore's brilliance up the other end of the pitch in the same video.
