Could Ron Vlaar be set for the Emirates or Old Trafford?
Ron Vlaar has been linked with Manchester United for ages but could Arsenal be trying to muscle in on that potential deal?
Arsenal are the latest club said to be interested in defender Ron Vlaar, who has failed to commit his long-term future to Aston Villa.
The Netherlands centre-back impressed for his country at the World Cup in the summer and has attracted attention from several so-called bigger clubs in recent months after failing to put pen to paper on a new contract at Villa Park.
Vlaar's current deal runs out in the summer and Villa boss Paul Lambert had said at the start of the season he was confident the Dutchman would sign a renewal, but it's now looking increasingly likely he could go in January, with the Gunners ready to pay in the region of 8million for his services.
Manchester United, whose manager Louis van Gaal knows Vlaar well from their time together for Holland, are also keen.

Meanwhile, The Express claims Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is on his way to the Premier League in January, with Arsenal and Liverpool set to do battle for the 33-year-old Spaniard, who has not always been first choice at the Bernabeu in the past 12 months.
Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini, now back in charge of Inter Milan, is apparently ready to raid Manchester United for out-of-form striker Robin van Persie, according to the Telegraph.
The 31-year-old's long-term future at Old Trafford is growing increasingly uncertain after some disappointing performances of late and Mancini is hoping to take advantage by launching a January bid, although there will be no shortage of interest from across Europe in the former Arsenal man.
Struggling QPR are hoping to persuade Chelsea to allow defender Tomas Kalas to join them on loan in January. The Czech youngster is currently on loan at German side Cologne, but is not getting regular action and the Blues would rather he was playing elsewhere in the second half of the season.
Another Chelsea player who could be heading out of Stamford Bridge temporarily is Mohamed Salah. Turkish side Besiktas are hoping to lure him in the new Year, according to The Express, as his route to the first team is currently blocked by the likes of Oscar, Willian, Andre Schurrle and Eden Hazard.
Everton and Leicester City are both reportedly after 29-year-old Galatasaray captain Selcuk Inan. The midfielder wants to test himself in the Premier League and could be available for as little as 5million.
Finally, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has admitted he would like to see former Magpies striker Andy Carroll back at St James' Park at some point in the future.
The West Ham forward, who is now finally fit again after a troublesome foot injury, left his hometown club for Liverpool in 2011 after scoring 31 league goals but it never worked out for him at Anfield.
Pardew knows Carroll is a key man for the Hammers but is aware they are growing frustrated with his injury problems and may try to offload him in the summer.
