Is Danny Ings a Southampton target?
Liverpool top the transfer rumours today but perhaps the most interesting one involves a Burnley striker potentially moving back to the south coast.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has reportedly been offered a new one-year deal at the club despite rumours of unrest.
The former England international was dropped for the Reds recent game against Stoke City in the Premier League and there was talk of a bust-up between the midfielder and manager Brendan Rodgers.
Any tension looks to have blown away now though and according to the Daily Mirror, Gerrard has an offer on the table to extend his stay at Anfield by another season.
The 34-year-old is said to be mulling over his options and is in no rush to put pen-to-paper just yet, with a move to a team in Europe having been mooted in recent days.
Sticking with the Reds and they have been put on high alert after Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is willing to listen to offers for Karim Benzema, according to the Daily Express.
The France international has been an ever-present in the Spanish side but, Financial Fair Play regulations may force the club to sell some of their players to ease the wage bill.
Liverpool face competition from Manchester United and Arsenal who are also said to be interested, although the trio will need to offer a substantial sum to land the striker who only recently signed a five-year contract at Madrid.

Moving on to the defending Premier League champions now and Manchester City are looking to extend the loan deal of midfielder Frank Lampard.
The ex-England international is due to return to New York City in January but, Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful of extending his stay and says a decision will be made this month.
According to the Daily Star, Lampard is keen on staying with the club, although the midfielder confirmed there have been no talks with City officials as of yet.
Switching to Southampton now and manager Ronald Koeman is weighing up a January move for Burnley striker Danny Ings as the Saints look to continue their impressive form in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has been a rare positive for the newly promoted side who have struggled to adjust to lift in the English top-flight and the club are bracing themselves for several bids.
Southampton, who already have Graziano Pelle and Shane Long in the attacking department, are said to be preparing a substantial offer for the striker when the January transfer window opens, according to the Daily Mirror.
And finally, Roma have stepped up their pursuit of Liverpool defender Glen Johnson with the Daily Telegraph saying the Italian side are willing to match the right-back 120,000-a-week wages.
The England international is out of contract in the summer and is yet to agree a new deal, with the Reds seemingly happy to let their player leave on a free transfer.
Roma, who acquired Ashley Cole in the summer, are hopeful of signing the defender in the summer and are the leading favourite to seal Johnson's signature.
