Metz Their Match: Bordeaux could be celebrating and commiserating in equal measure this evening
Tobias Gourlay looks forward to some vintage Bordeaux as the Girondins visit Albert Cartier's Metz this evening
Metz v Bordeaux
Wednesday 18:00
Another 1-1 draw yesterday. In south Yorkshire this time, and this time we were on the wrong side of it.
Today we're taking out the insurance on a third one.
Willy Sagnol's Bordeaux are running fourth in Ligue 1 despite conceding in 13/15 games so far. They haven't kept a clean sheet on the road since the opening day of the season.
The Girondins have been blanked themselves on just two occasions - once on a trip to Paris where they encountered Ligue 1's best defence. Away from home, both teams have scored in five of their last seven fixtures.
At the Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien, Metz have made a fine start to their first campaign back in the top flight. Albert Cartier's men lost for the first time at home to the aforementioned PSG last time out (2-3), but did at least maintain their average of two goals a home game (now 14 in seven).
They have conceded at least once in 5/7 and the very same fraction of their home games have seen both teams score.
