The Goalscorer Gamble: Kane ready to take the headlines again

Can Harry Kane get back amongst the goals when Tottenham take on West Brom?

Dan Fitch returns with five fresh goalscorer tips and is backing Harry Kane to get back amongst the goals for Spurs...

After total failure a fortnight ago the esteemed Goalscorer Gamble column bounced back last week with a respectable showing. Two of my five picks delivered as both Gareth Bale and Gonzalo Higuain hit the net.

This week we're looking to push on and net some major profit and the players ready to do the business are available at sufficiently plump prices to do just that.

We start in the Premier League with Tottenham's Harry Kane, whose odds have risen nicely in recent weeks. Kane has not scored in Spurs' last five games but that does not tell the full story.

The England U-21 striker only played in three of those games and two of those appearances came in a deeper position. Kane returned to the role of loan striker against Sheffield United in midweek and though he didn't score, he looked extremely dangerous.

Having got through a tough period of fixtures, Tottenham are likely to start Kane in that position again. He faces a West Brom defence in great form But Spurs have been very good on the road this season, with five of Kane's eight league goals coming away from White Hart Lane. Back him at  a generous price of 2.915/8 to add to his tally.

Staying in the Premier League we move on to Crystal Palace's game with Everton. Palace have won every game under Alan Pardew since he returned to Selhurst Park, scoring 12 goals in four games.

Four of those goals have been scored by Dwight Gayle, including a brace in Palace's last Premier League outing away at Burnley. Gayle did not play in the FA Cup victory over Southampton last weekend but would be extremely unfortunate to not be reinstated having shown such form. Against an Everton side that have won just one of their last 13 games, let's take a chance on Gayle at 9.28/1 to open the scoring.

Over to Spain now for a redemption story worthy of Bruce Springsteen. Fernando Torres' spell at Chelsea was a disaster and a loan period at AC Milan seemed to show that he was finished at the top level.

Then came a move home to Atletico Madrid and the act of faith from the reigning league champions seems to be paying off. Torres has scored three goals so far, included a lovely strike against Barcelona in midweek. This weekend Atletico face an Eibar team that have conceded in each of their last six games, so let's show faith in Torres' continuing to build momentum at 2.75n/a.

To Germany now for Bayer Leverkusen's match with Borussia Dortmund. Not long ago this would be labelled a top of the table clash, but while Leverkusen have kept their standards intact, Dortmund have let theirs slip.

Currently in the relegation zone, Dortmund won only one of their last eight games before the winter break. Back in action today, they must stop Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi who is one of the Bundesliga's top scorers with eight goals. With Dortmund struggling, it's worth having a gamble on Bellerabi at a likely price of 10.09/1 to score.

Finally we conclude in Serie A with Juventus' trip to Udinese. Carlos Tevez has served this column extremely well this season and acts as something of a banker on a day when I've taken idle punts with gay abandon.

Tevez is Serie A's top scorer with 13 goals this season. Four of those have come in his last five league games and against a Udinese side that have only won one of their last seven matches, it's a fair bet he'll extend his tally. Back Tevez at 2.25n/a to find the net.
