It was a tale of woe yesterday as Saturday's re-arranged match between Sampdoria was 1-1 after 19 minutes and still 1-1 at full time. Then we had the City/Barca game which had one goal too many for our tastes. Onwards and upwards though...

They may not be enjoying their finest campaign domestically, but Bayer Leverkusen are through to the knockout phase of the Champions League. It will be a big ask for them to go any further than the last 16 though as they've been drawn to face last year's finalists and reigning La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid.

If Roger Schmidt's side are to progress then they almost certainly have to win  on home soil tonight - something that they haven't done since November. They even netted four times at the BayArena 11 days ago and still failed to win as opponents, Wolfsburg, scored five.

Atletico Madrid knocked three past Almeria at the weekend but their title defence was de-railed the week before with a loss at Celta de Vigo. That match aside, Diego Simeone's men are in good goal-scoring form as they've notched 16 in their last half dozen in all competitions, and that includes two against Barcelona and four against Real Madrid.

First legs can often be cagey affairs as neither team wants to lose the tie before it's really begun. I quite like our chance of goals here though as the attackers in both teams are in better form than the defenders and as we saw last night, first legs can still have their share of goals. That's why, at around the 1.695/7 mark, I have to make under 2.5 my lay of the day.
