Will Jordon Ibe be joining Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson in the England team?
Harry Kane continues to make the headlines but who else in English football could join the Tottenham hotshot in an XI of uncapped players? Whoscored.com select their Uncapped England XI...
Roy Hodgson will be spending the coming weeks assessing his options ahead of two friendlies next month and is expected to call upon some untested players at international level.
With that in mind we've asked WhoScored.com to compile a best XI of uncapped Englishmen hoping to earn a first cap based on their statistical player ratings, comprised and calculated using over 200 stats from Opta.
We start in goal and with very limited options in the Premier League in terms of England hopefuls we've instead, in this instance, looked to a young shot stopper plying his trade in the Championship. Let go by Tottenham in 2012 after a remarkable 13 loan spells in the space of four years, David Button has since found a home at Brentford. The 25-year-old is the top rated goalkeeper in England's second tier according to WhoScored (7.22), playing a key role in an unlikely promotion push having made at least 12 more saves than any other keeper in the division (122).
Among the backline the likes of West Ham's James Tomkins (7.53) and West Brom's Craig Dawson (7.25) stand out as potential candidates. The former is WhoScored's top rated centre-back in the Premier League this season, winning 4.9 aerial duels per game at an outstanding 76.9% success rate. Dawson, meanwhile, has impressed at both centre and, latterly, right-back at the Hawthorns and was a regular for the under-21s, providing an excellent goal threat from set pieces.
It's the wide men in this XI that may well be attracting Hodgson's attention, with Sammy Ameobi finally beginning to fulfil the promise that saw him earmarked as a future Newcastle star at such an early age. The gangly winger's work ethic has shone through, deemed 'very strong' with regards to 'defensive contribution' according to WhoScored's statistical characteristics, along with strengths of 'dribbling', 'aerial duels' and 'long shots'.
Meanwhile Jordon Ibe's emergence in the first team at Anfield has been impressive this year. The teenager looks to have it all and recently completed a remarkable 11 dribbles in the Europa League against Besiktas - the most in a single game in the competition.
It's the striking department that undoubtedly gives the most cause for encouragement to the England boss, however, with the likes of Charlie Austin and Saido Berahino missing out on our XI.
Danny Ings has scored in five of his seven league appearances since the turn of the year and his link up play will appeal to Hodgson having picked up four assists to accompany his nine goals thus far.
The England manager has already confirmed that, assuming he avoids injury between now and the middle of March, a call-up for Harry Kane is imminent. The Tottenham forward is simply the in-form star of the Premier League right now, scoring nine of his 14 league goals in 2015, and his rapid development has been simply unavoidable.
