Cross-Sport Multiple: Back Argentina to beat Belgium

Messi will have the space to shine against Belgium

Andrew Hughes thinks Argentina will overcome Belgium on Saturday and help land another cross-sport multiple in the process

Bet 1: Back Argentina to beat Belgium at 2.26/5

Belgium was many people's outside bet to win the World Cup, and despite not looking that impressive so far, they have fought well to reach the last eight. But although they should give Argentina a good game, I can't see them going any further.

Argentina have been criticised for their over-reliance on Messi, which isn't entirely fair. The team is understandably set up around him, but they do have other potential match winners in Sergio Aguero and Angel di Maria.

They have also been up against teams intent on sitting deep, as we saw with Switzerland in the second round, but Belgium's strength is going forward, so they should play with some ambition, which will give Argentina's forwards the space in which they can do some serious damage. Back the South Americans to prevail.

Bet 2: Back Eugenie Bouchard to beat Petra Kvitova at 2.26/5

Saturday's Women's Final at Wimbledon is a fascinating match-up between a former champion and a rising star. 2011 winner Petra Kvitova has met Eugenie Bouchard once before, in Toronto last year, and prevailed in straight sets, but we can't read too much into that as Bouchard had a bit of a nightmare, coughing up eight double faults.

Kvitova has blown away her opponents on the way to the final, serving 38 aces, but she will find her big serve matched by some big returns from Bouchard, whose game plan is simple but powerfully effective. Kvitova's experience is offset by her habit of committing unforced errors, and I think Bouchard's belligerence could get to her. Back the Canadian to edge it and lift her first Grand Slam.

Bet 3: Back West Indies to beat New Zealand at 1.728/11

An inexperienced looking West Indian side lost the Test series against New Zealand 2-1 but they can have their revenge in the twenty over format, starting on Saturday.

They lost both of their Twenty20 games in New Zealand five months ago, but that was a much-weakened side, and this time they will have most of their Twenty20 specialists available, including all-rounder Kieran Pollard and most importantly, the spinners Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree.

Narine has been one of the stars of the IPL in recent seasons and Badree is the world's number one ranked Twenty20 bowler. This is the West Indies strongest format and on home turf the 2012 World Twenty20 champions should be too strong for the tourists.
