Against All Odds: Goals galore in Serie B

It's Brazil once again tonight

Paul Robinson has taken his tally to six winners from six selections in Brazil over the last two days and he's back for more tonight as he feels we'll see at least three goals when Avai take on Ponte Preta.

Avai have made a decent start to their campaign as after 11 games they are up in sixth place with 17 points. As the top four are promoted to the top flight, if they can keep things going then they'll be in with a real chance of escaping Serie B.

It's the goal-side of things we're concentrating on tonight though and with 12 scored and 12 conceded, their matches are averaging 2.18 goals each time. If we narrow that down to their results at home, then that average increases to 2.4 and three of their five outings in front of their own crowd have gone over 2.5 goals.

Ponte Preta finished second from bottom of the Campeonato last term and that has seen them plying their trade in Serie B this time around. Promotion is their target and they have made a solid start to achieving it as they're only three points adrift of the top four.

Dado Cavalcanti's men have scored 15 goals to date and conceded 13, and that has meant that their fixtures are averaging 2.55 goals per 90 minutes. Half a dozen of their 11 have had three goals or more but four of those have come from their five away games and the one that missed out only did so by a single goal.

Both teams scoring is almost a given for my money but at the prices I'm willing to take a chance on there being a third. That's why, at around the 1.774/5 mark, I have to make under 2.5 goals my lay of the day.
