Party On: Swedes know how to have a good time, even on a Monday
Hammarby will always land some blows of their own but, in the first of a new daily column looking for value bets from around the globe, Tobias Gourlay thinks they might have a glass jaw that should make today's game with Assyriska even more entertaining
Hammarby v Assyriska
Monday July 28, 18:20 BST
Meatballs, blonde hair and goals.
Sweden has all the best things, and you should find at least one of them at the Tele2 Arena tonight.
Hammarby IF have been more like Hammarby WHEN this term, hitting the back of the net 21 times in their first nine home games of the Superettan season. So they're almost averaging 2.5 goals a game on their own - which is a big part of why you'll find them in a podium position close to the top of the table.
But when their forwards run dry, the defence will often start leaking. They've conceded at least once in 5/8 at the Tele2 - and twice or more in 4/8.
Assyriska come to town after helping each of their last three away games climb Over 2.5 Goals.
In the last five seasons they have got over the goals line in 43/68 on the road, which would suggest odds the wrong side of 1.68/13 for them to do it again this evening.
They are in little danger of keeping a clean sheet - that's happened in just 4/53 away from home - but, having hit the back of the net themselves in 51/68, it's on the road that they do their best work at the other end of the pitch. Bottom of the overall table, Assyriska's away record is the 16-team league's fifth best and don't usually come to the party empty-handed.
And hopefully it's not just meatballs they're bringing.
