Expect a draw for hosts Hungary U19 and goals at both ends for fancied Germany U19 in the final set of group games...

Portugal U19 rather than pre-tournament fancies Germany U19 have been the outstanding performers in the first two European U19 Championship matchdays. The most prolific qualifiers have continued in that vein with a 3-0 victory over Israel U19 and 6-1 thrashing of Hungary U19.

They now compete with Austria U19 for Group A's top spot, though this preview is focussing on hosts Hungary U19's bid to avoid a pointless exit against debutants Israel U19, and Germany U19 and Ukraine U19's squabble battle for Group B leadership...

Hungary U19 have been upholding the modern tradition whereby the European U19 Championship stagers fare dismally. Following flops against Austria U19 and Portugal U19, another defeat will see them replicate Lithuania (2013) and Estonia (2012) by ending their own edition without a point.

However, Israel U19 have never won a game in the tournament, with this their first participation and their opening two fixtures finishing with 0-3 losses to Portugal U19 and Austria U19.

So expect Hungary U19 to pay homage to 2011 hosts Romania instead by closing with a draw which will be described as "salvaging pride" when, in reality, it does little to help anyone involved.

Ukraine U19 have never failed to clear their group on two prior appearances at the European U19 Championship, winning the most recent in 2009, and have put themselves in contention again by mimicking Germany U19's results: drawing with Serbia U19 and beating Bulgaria U19.

Because Germany U19 dismissed bottom side Bulgaria U19 more convincingly, a draw will see them through regardless of whether Serbia U19 beat Bulgaria U19 though, whereas Ukraine U19 require three points to guarantee their progress.

Ukraine U19's need to score combined with the fact that Germany U19 are always busy at both ends - scoring five and conceding two in their two matches to date - should deliver a goal-heavy clash.
