Premier League TV Fixtures: Arsenal the shortest price on the opening weekend

Will Wenger oversee a win on the opening day?

A suite of winnable games await the title contenders in the televised games on the first weekend of the Premier League season. Will it be Multiples ahoy?!

The Premier League season kicks off in less than four weeks and the Betfair markets are ready to do business!

Fixtures  were announced some time ago, but last week the TV companies decided which teams we'll be watching over the weekend of August 16/17 (and the Monday night of course).

The top five in the Premier League betting are on our screens but we kick off with the only one of the quintet not playing Champions League football - Manchester United. It all gets under way on Saturday August 16 at 12:45 on BT Sport 1 with Louis van Gaal's debut league game which brings Swansea to Old Trafford. The former Netherlands manager is 1.412/5 to make a winning start to his tenure as manager of the 13-time Premier League champions while .

The shortest priced team of the televised games is Arsenal, who face Crystal Palace in the 17:30 kick-off on Saturday night.

Arsene Wenger's team, fourth placed finishers last season, are 1.331/3 to get the better of their south London rivals. Tony Pulis' outfit are 12.5n/a to win the match, but the Eagles were one of the strongest performers in the Premier League in the second half of the 2013-14 campaign and will be looking to replicate Aston Villa's long odds win at the Emirates in the opening game of last season.

Sunday brings last year's top two to our televisions with Liverpool kicking their season off at home to Southampton, and Manchester City visiting Newcastle for the 16:00 KO.

Brendan Rodgers' team raided St Mary's in the off season, signing Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert as they sought to strengthen before selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona. It's arguable that the Anfield side should be a similar price to Arsenal in the match odds than their current 1.4740/85 given Saints have not only lost two of their star men but also their manager, Mauricio Pochettino.

Southampton were one of the brightest teams in the top-flight last time, but they look more likely to struggle in their second season back in the Premier League without two of their star men and bedding in under a new manager. Saints are 8.415/2 to win the match, a result they achieved last year courtesy of a Dejan Lovren goal.

Manchester City are odds-on but a bigger price - 1.664/6 - than any of their other title rivals to win their opening game. Newcastle United await in the late Sunday KO, and a home win trades at 6.411/2. City, however, beat United by a combined 8-0 scoreline in three league and cup games last year and it'll be a surprise should Manuel Pellegrini's champions slip up in the first game of their defence.

The final televised match takes place on Monday night at Turf Moor where Burnley host Chelsea in a a clash between two very different football clubs. The two last met in the 2009-10 season when the London side did the double over the Lancashire outfit.

Sean Dyche's side are 10.09/1 to get off to a dream start. The visitors are just 1.412/5 to back.

With all five genuine title challengers trading at odds-on it's more than likely punters will be considering a multiple. A five-fold on the quintet returns at 5.28n/a.
