Could another Southampton star be set for Anfield?
Jay Rodriguez could join his former colleague at Southampton whilst Manchester United and PSG are both linked with an Argentine star. All this and more in our transfer rumour round-up.
Liverpool could continue their summer raid of Southampton as they weigh up a bid for striker Jay Rodriguez, according to the Mirror.
The newspaper claims Brendan Rodgers has made an enquiry into the availability of the striker, who was ruled out of England's summer World Cup campaign with a serious anterior cruciate injury.
The news comes after the Merseyside club pulled out of a deal to sign QPR striker Loic Remy. The Frenchman reportedly failed his medical at Anfield while the Reds have also cooled their interest in Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku and Swansea's Wilfried Bony.
Everton are meanwhile confident they will sign Lukaku permanently this summer after his successful loan spell last season, according to the Liverpool Echo. But Spanish newspaper AS reports the Toffees will face competition from some of Europe's biggest clubs with Juventus and Real Madrid also monitoring the 20m striker's situation.
Speculation continues to surround the future of Angel Di Maria, who reportedly wants out of Real Madrid as he feels 'unwanted' following the arrival of James Rodriguez. The Daily Star claims Manchester United are back in for the winger in a 45million deal while Marca believe the Argentine is closing in on a 51m switch to PSG.
Manchester United's pursuit of Arturo Vidal also continues with the Mirror reporting Juventus are braced for a 48million bid from Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal's side prepared to double his wages and offer him 6m-a-year. Italian newspaper Gazetta Dello Sport believe United officials will meet with Vidal's representatives again this week to try and thrash out a deal.
While the Southampton exodus looks set to continue, the Express claim new boss Ronald Koeman has been given a record 50m transfer kitty to spend this summer. The Sun believe the Dutch boss is lining up Norwich and Netherlands midfielder Leroy Fer as one of his immediate signings while Saints are also hoping to lure River Plate striker Teofilo Gutierrez to St Mary's. Argentine news outlet MDZ reports the Premier League club hold a serious interest in the 29-year-old who wants a return to Europe but will be rivalled for his signature by Sevilla, Inter Milan and Zenit St Petersburg.
Finally the Daily Mail claim West Ham are considering making an offer for Samuel Eto'o as replacement for the injured Andy Carroll. The Hammers are also thought to be interested in Portuguese forward Hugo Almeida and Arsenal's Joel Campbell, with Eto'o's wage demands of 100,000-a-week likely to be a problem.
