Belgium lived up to their favourites tag by qualifying for the Last 16, winning all three of their group games. However the fact that they only won each of their games by a one goal margin: 2-1 vs Algeria, 1-0 vs Russia and 1-0 vs South Korea may put bettors off from backing them in the latter stages.
Algeria were the surprise package of the group, outscoring all the other teams in the process of qualifying in second place. Prior to the tournament they were 8.400 to qualify, with an implied probability of 11.90%.
However Russia massively underachieved, given that they were seen as 1.435 – 69.69% 2nd favourites to qualify.
