German star Hummels look set to stay at Dortmund
Manchester United lead the transfer rumour round-up today and the news is not good for United fans I'm afraid. Alex Johnson rounds everything up...
Manchester United face the prospect of missing out on Mats Hummels, Marco Reus and Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Star.
The Guardian have claimed new United boss Louis van Gaal has been told he can break the world transfer record this summer but it would seem as if the Dutchman is set to miss out on three of his top targets.
Hummels and Reus both play for German side Borussia Dortmund but the pair are not for sale, according to BVB boss Jurgen Klopp.
United are expected to launch a 40million move for Juventus' Chile international midfielder Vidal but the Daily Star claims this will be rejected and they have suggested the Old Trafford side will instead move for Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria.
Liverpool are close to securing the services of defender Javier Manquillo on a two-year loan deal from Atletico Madrid, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
The report claims the Reds will confirm the deal on Wednesday and Manquillo will move to Anfield on loan, with the option of a permanent deal when the initial agreement comes to an end.
Southampton have seen a number of players depart this summer but boss Ronald Koeman is set to step up his hunt for new faces in the coming days.
The Daily Star have reported that the Dutchman will make fresh moves for Norwich midfielder Nathan Redmond and Celtic keeper Fraser Forster in the coming days - having already seen bids for the duo knocked back by their respective clubs this summer.
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed he is still on the lookout for reinforcements after he told reporters the squad is not yet "complete".
City will be without striker Alvaro Negredo for the start of the campaign due to injury and the Manchester Evening News have indicated Pellegrini may seek a replacement for the Spaniard, while the same newspaper suggests Micah Richards, Javi Garcia, Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair will be moved on before the transfer window closes.
Finally, Spurs are leading the race for France international Antoine Griezmann, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
Griezmann impressed for Les Bleus at the World Cup in Brazil this summer and a number of sides have been credited with an interest in the winger.
Chelsea and Monaco are thought to be tracking the Real Sociedad forward but AS have claimed Spurs are leading the race for the 15million-rated 23-year-old as keeper Hugo Lloris, the France captain, will help persuade Griezmann to move to White Hart Lane.
