Barcelona ready to snap up Spurs star - Transfer Talk

Jan Vertonghen is being linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona

Jan Vertonghen is being linked with a surprising move to Barcelona whilst Didier Drogba could return to Chelsea and James Rodriguez wants to join Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

Arsene Wenger is looking to sign another World Cup star, following Arsenal's capture of Alexis Sanchez last week.

According to the Daily Mirror, Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina is top of the Arsenal wanted list, as they seek a back-up to Wojciech Szczesny following Lukas Fabianski's exit earlier this summer.

The Gunners are believed to have struck a deal with Ospina's club Nice, with personal terms expected to be discussed with the player and his representatives this week.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are close to striking a deal with La Liga club Sevilla over a season-long loan deal for Iago Aspas.

The striker has failed to make an impact at Anfield since joining from Celta Vigo last summer and the Liverpool Echo says Brendan Rodgers will allow him to leave.

Liverpool are believed to be keen to sell Aspas but they reportedly want around 8million, with Sevilla seeking a loan spell before they consider a permanent deal.

The Daily Mail is predicting a sensational return to Chelsea for veteran striker Didier Drogba, who could take a player-coach role at Stamford Bridge.

The 36-year-old has only had one season at Galatasaray and despite interest from Qatari clubs, a return to west London could be on the cards.

Jose Mourinho is seeking an experienced replacement for Samuel Eto'o and had previously refused to rule out linking up again with the Ivory Coast frontman.

Reports in Spain suggest Jan Vertonghen could be the next summer capture for Barcelona, after his agent hinted that he could leave Tottenham.

Mustapha Nakhli insists there has been plenty of interest in the Belgium international, with the Evening Standard claiming a 17.5million bid is in the offing.

Agent Nakhli told Het Nieuwsblad: "Several teams are interested in Jan. I cannot confirm or deny whether Barcelona are one of them. It's too soon to give an answer, we'll see."

Finally, Colombian superstar James Rodriguez has once again stated his desire to play for Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old only joined Monaco last summer but his impressive displays at the World Cup - where he finished as the leading goalscorer - has led to interest from Europe's top clubs, with Real leading the chase for his signature.

Marca claims the Bernabeu giants will have to pay in the region of €75million to capture the former Porto man, but talks have already begun between the two clubs and that a deal could be thrashed out soon.
