Premier League on Betfair: Man United cast Leicester aside and Stoke pile further woe on travel-sick QPR

Movin' on up...Louis van Gaal's United are up to third, for now

Luke Moore rounds up the afternoon's Premier League action, which saw no less than 19 goals across the seven games...

Louis van Gaal's Manchester United exorcised their demons by beating Leicester City 3-1 at Old Trafford and avenging the 5-3 defeat at the King Power Stadium back in September.

Goals from Robin van Persie and Falcao were added to by an own goal from Wes Morgan before Marcin Wasilewski grabbed a late consolation from the visitors. The win elevated United to third in the table above Southampton who play Swansea tomorrow, and Van Gaal's men are now just 1.564/7 to finish in the top four this season, with Leicester City now into 1.674/6 for the dreaded drop.

At Anfield, Daniel Sturridge celebrated his return after five months away with injury with a goal, scoring the vital second in a 2-0 win against West Ham that moved the Reds to within just four points of a Champions League spot. Brendan Rodgers' men started this term slowly but have now lost just one of their last ten and are one of the form teams in the division. 5.69/2 is the price on the Anfield outfit finishing in the top four, having been matched at a massive 14.5n/a earlier this season.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs inflicted the first defeat of Tony Pulis' West Brom reign, courtesy of two goals from man-of-the-moment Harry Kane and yet another free kick from the in-form Christian Eriksen. The Spurs win was matched at 2.962/1 and in truth it was an easy day at the office for the north Londoners.

Elsewhere, Everton alleviated fears of a relegation battle with a good 0-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park thanks to an early Romelu Lukaku goal, Stoke inflicted yet another away defeat on QPR, Sunderland recorded a needed 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Burnley and in the early kick off John Carver clinched his first win as Newcastle boss with a solid 0-3 defeat of Hull, who are now in to just 2.0621/20 for relegation.
