No more long drives to work from Sandbanks
Harry Redknapp has resigned as manager of QPR with immediate effect, citing forthcoming knee surgery as the main reason for his departure. Tim Sherwood is the overwhelming favourite to replace him...
Our football traders reported a flurry of bets on Redknapp in the Next Manager to Leave market this morning, cutting the price from 2/1 to 8/11 and then 1/4, and the punters getting involved were proved to be on the money.
QPR sit second bottom in the Premier League and have yet to pick up a single point on the road - we make them 9/2 to go without an away win all season - but the former Spurs man suggested forthcoming knee surgery was the reason for his departure.
"Sadly I need immediate surgery on my knee which is going to stop me from doing my job in the coming weeks," he told the QPR website. "It means I won't be able to be out on the training pitch every day, and if I can't give 100% I feel it's better for someone else to take over the reins."
Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey have been placed in temporary charge of the team until further notice, casting doubt over the future of Kevin Bond, Joe Jordan and Glenn Hoddle.
Former Spurs interim head coach, Tim Sherwood, who worked with Redknapp at the north London club has already been linked with the QPR role and is big favourite on the Next QPR manager market at around 1.330/100.
The west Londoners are 1.715/7 to be relegated this season.
