QPR are fighting for their lives
The Premier League is the place for Paul Robinson today as he thinks that Southampton have to be opposed for their trip to QPR.
QPR v Southampton
Saturday February 7, 15:00 GMT
A run of four successive defeats and no win since before Christmas (as well as a dodgy knee) saw Harry Redknapp leave Loftus Road this week to be replaced by somebody called, Chris Ramsey (apparently).
That opening paragraph would have you think that I am tipping Rangers to get trounced this afternoon, but far from it. The R's have a more than respectable home record this term as all 19 of their points have been earned in front of their own fans.
The London based club have only been beaten three times on home soil and two of those were by Liverpool and Manchester United. Victories over Sunderland, Aston Villa, Leicester, Burnley and West Brom are added to by draws with Stoke, Man City, Crystal Palace and Swansea.
Southampton come into this fixture sitting in fourth place but the pack is closing in following their defeat at home to Swansea last weekend. That's two defeats on the bounce if we include cup competitions and the last time that happened to The Saints this term, they went on to lose another three in a row.
Breaking down the opposition has proved troublesome for Ronald Koeman's men on occasion this year and a tight Loftus Road pitch against a well organised QPR defence and midfield won't be ideal for their passing football.
Maybe I am overeating to their performance last week, but I really can't see Southampton winning today. That's why, with their price trading at around the 1.8910/11 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
