Premier League: Southampton pray the exodus is over

Adam Lallana became the fourth key figure to leave Southampton

With the transfer window back in business, Michael Lintorn rounds up the deals already stamped "done"...

The negotiating and speculating has been going on for months, but July 1 is the day that the summer transfer window officially opens, and the squads for the 2014/15 season start to take shape.

Southampton have been the protagonists to date and should continue to be now that they have 56 million to play with. Those funds were gained selling Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to Liverpool and Luke Shaw to Man United, while they also lost head coach Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham.

There is talk that much of the money will be made available for new boss Ronald Koeman, though there are also rumours of at least one more exit, with Arsenal linked to France international Morgan Schneiderlin. Tellingly, the Saints are a shorter price to go down at 7.613/2 than hit the top six at 11.010/1.

Liverpool have supplemented their Southampton shopping with the 10 million purchase of 20-year-old Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can. However, the Luis-Suarez-to-Barcelona-shaped cloud loitering above Anfield has contributed to them drifting from 3.5 to 10.09/1 to win the 2014/15 title.

The other Southampton fire-sale beneficiaries Man United combined their 27 million Shaw splurge with a move worth around 29 million for Athletic Bilbao playmaker Ander Herrera.

With incoming manager Louis van Gaal impressing with the Netherlands in Brazil, the Red Devils have steadily come in from 12.5 to 6.611/2 to reclaim top spot. Not even the loss of Alexander Buttner to Dinamo Moscow is capable of crushing the feel-good factor.

Man City have added Bacary Sagna and Porto midfielder Fernando, but those buys are perceived to have been trumped by Chelsea signing Cesc Fabregas for a smaller sum than they sold David Luiz to Paris St-Germain for. As a result, Chelsea are 3.02/1 title favourites, with the holders 3.1511/5 to retain.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton's lack of early activity sees them trail behind the aforementioned four in the betting. The trio are 1.684/6, 4.57/2 and 8.07/1 respectively to finish in the top four.

In the less glamorous areas of the table, Stoke have captured Phil Bardsley, Steve Sidwell, Mame Biram Diouf and Dionatan Teixeira, Newcastle (as well as recruiting Tenerife's Ayoze Perez) nabbed Jack Colback off Sunderland, who have brought in Costel Pantilimon, Billy Jones and Jordi Gomez on frees.

Swansea's numbers have been enhanced by Lukasz Fabianski and Bafetimbi Gomis, West Ham have snapped up Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate, Aston Villa have opted for Philippe Senderos and Joe Cole and West Brom have swooped for Joleon Lescott and midlands floater Craig Gardner.

Hull's European party was strengthened with Robert Snodgrass and Jake Livermore's permanent acquisition, while newcomers Leicester have turned to Ben Hamer, Matthew Upson, Marc Albrighton and Jack Barmby. 1.654/6 relegation favourites Burnley have moved for Michael Kightly.
