Transfer Talk: Man City join the fight for Danny Ings

Is Manuel Pellegrini set to snap up Danny Ings?

Danny Ings is an exciting young striker but now he's being treated like a young Gary Lineker as Manchester City join the fight for his services.

Everton are hoping to snap up midfielder Tom Cleverley in the summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 13-time capped England international is currently on a season-long loan at struggling Premier League outfit Aston Villa from Manchester United, having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The midfielder's contract runs out in the summer and it looks highly unlikely that Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal will offer a new deal to the Basingstoke-born man.

Everton are now being linked with a move for Cleverley and Robert Martinez is looking to sign the player on a free transfer in a deal that will see the duo re-united having worked together at Wigan.

Villa will provide stiff competition, though, as they look to tie up a permanent deal but a switch will most likely hinge on whether the club can stay in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, there are four teams in the English top-flight reportedly eyeing up a summer transfer for Porto and Columbia striker Jackson Martinez.

The 28-year-old has been in fantastic form this season, having scored a sensational 15 goals from 19 league games and interest in him is said to be increasing after each match.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are all being linked with the striker, according to the Daily Star, although they will have to stump up around 15-20million.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, defending champions Manchester City have emerged as shock contenders to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings in the summer.

The Englishman is out-of-contract in the summer and there have already been reports linking Liverpool with a move for the Clarets ace, who has bagged seven goals this season.

The Reds were hoping to sign the striker on a pre-contract agreement but they face stiff competition, according to a story in the Manchester Evening News.

They suggest the Citizens are looking to bring in more home-grown talent and Manuel Pellegrini is said to have earmarked Ings one of the main targets this summer.

News on West Ham United now, and the club are said to be considering a move for Senegal defender Kara Mbodj from Belgian side Genk in the summer.

The Hammers look set to lose prized-asset Winston Reid at the end of the season on a free transfer after the New Zealand international confirmed he will not be signing a new contract.

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham will do everything they can to sign Mbodj in the summer having missed out on the defender in January due to his participation in the African Cup of Nations.
