Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid in for De Gea or Cech?

Iker Casillas could be replaced by a Premier League keeper

Two fine goalkeepers are being courted by Real Madrid according to reports today, will this be the end of the Iker Casilas reign at the Bernabeu?

Real Madrid are set to step up their hunt for a new goalkeeper after being linked with Man Utd's David de Gea and Chelsea's Petr Cech.

Los Blancos appear to have lost faith in long-time number one Iker Casillas following a series of errors by the Spanish shot stopper and are looking towards the Premier League to replace him.

The European champions did sign Keylor Navas from Levante this summer but that has not stopped them taking an interest in Manchester United ace De Gea, according to the Daily Mirror.

The paper reports United are ready to offer De Gea a new long-term deal worth 30million in the hope of discouraging Real from making a bid for the Spaniard next summer.

The Daily Express claims Real are also interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Cech, who has recently admitted he would be open to a move away from Stamford Bridge after losing his spot in the starting line-up to Thibaut Courtois.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants Cech to stay but Real are hoping to tempt the Premier League leaders into a sale by offering them German midfielder Sami Khedira.

Chelsea are believed to be keen on Khedira who is set to leave the Bernabeu at some point next year.

Meanwhile, the Newcastle Chronicle has revealed West Ham striker Andy Carroll will reject the chance to return to St James' Park if the Hammers try to offload him in January.

Speculation on Monday indicated West Ham were ready to cut their losses on the 15.5million club-record signing after an injury-plagued spell at Upton Park.

However, the Chronicle reports that Carroll is settled in London and wants to fight for his place in the West Ham team, rather than move back to Tyneside.

The Daily Star are reporting that Aston Villa skipper Ron Vlaar has told his current club they will have to double his existing wages if they are to prevent him joining Manchester United.

The Dutch defender will be a free agent in June when his contract expires and United boss Louis van Gaal is eager to sign him after his impressive displays at the World Cup.

The Villans are eager to keep the 29-year-old but it remains to be seen if they are willing to meet Vlaar's demands.

Finally, the Daily Star are claiming that Arsenal are lining up a January swoop for Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Gunners are in desperate need of a defender and are prepared to offer the Scottish champions 8million for the 23-year-old who has previously been linked with a move to Southampton.
