Football Bet of the Day: Let's hope we're Racing towards profit with a goalfest

Velez striker Lucas Pratto is having a fine season

Kevin Hatchard's looking to end the week on a high with a selection from the Argentinean Primera Division, as Racing Club take on Velez Sarsfield.

It all started so well, as Wolfsberger AC took a 10th-minute lead, and they held that advantage until the 57th minute. Then it all went wrong for us, as SV Grodig mounted an improbable comeback and won 2-1 to secure their first away win in seven attempts. Curses!

So three winners and three losers this week, and let's see if we can go out with a bang before I hand you back to Tobias Gourlay. We're getting out of Austria (frankly we might never go back) and we're off to Argentina for a Primera Division clash between Racing Club and Velez Sarsfield.

I commentated on Racing a couple of weeks ago, and rarely have I seen a team create so many chances without scoring. The Academy hit the frame of the goal four times as they lost 2-0 at home to Atletico Rafaela. That was a blip in what's been a good few weeks for Racing - they have collected ten points from their last five games, and are 4th in the standings. In that period they have smashed in 11 goals, and striker Gustavo Bou has shaken off early-season criticism to score seven goals in his last five appearances.

Velez Sarsfield's road form has let them down this season, and they have lost their last four away games. Last week's thumping 4-1 win over Olimpo was much-needed, and it lifted Velez to sixth in the table. Forward Lucas Pratto scored last week, and he has now bagged six goals in nine appearances.

Over 2.5 Goals is trading at 2.526/4, and admittedly clashes between the two sides in recent seasons haven't tended to yield many goals. However, both teams are creating plenty of goalscoring chances and have attacking players in form, and there is statistical encouragement for us. Five of Velez' 11 Primera Division games this term have featured three goals or more, and the same has been true for seven of Racing's 11 outings. On that basis, I think 2.526/4 is a price we shouldn't ignore.
