Transfer Rumours: Ozil wants out of Arsenal? Carroll back to the Toon?

Could Andy Carroll be heading back to Newcastle?

Mesut Ozil wants out and Andy Carroll could be coming home. Some interesting rumours in the newspapers today. Alex Johnson rounds it all up.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is understood to be on his way out of the club in January, according to the Daily Mail.

It has been reported that the Germany international is ready to quit the Emirates after struggling to settle since his move from Real Madrid.

German giants Bayern Munich are said to be leading the chase for his signature with 30million expected to be enough to lure him away from the Gunners, who splashed out a club-record 42.5million last summer.

Ozil is apparently unhappy at the north London club as boss Arsene Wenger continues to play him out of his preferred position and he could be heading for the exit come January.

The Mirror has reported that Newcastle could be in line to hand Andy Carroll the opportunity to return to his hometown club in January.

Carroll departed the Magpies in 2011 as he joined Liverpool in a 35million deal before subsequently being sold to West Ham for 15.5million. However, injuries have held back the England international and with the Hammers drafting in new striking options over the summer it could spell the end of his time at Upton Park.

The British paper has claimed that Carroll is high on the list of targets for under pressure Newcastle boss Alan Pardew and could be handed a lifeline in the winter transfer window.

The Mirror also understands that Liverpool are ready to do some more business in January with young midfielder Fabio Sturgeon attracting interest.

The 20-year-old, who currently plays for Portuguese side Belenenses has been scouted a number of times by the Reds over the last year and Brendan Rodgers may now be ready to make an official move.

However, the Merseysiders will face competition from Portuguese giants Benfica, who are keen on handing the Portugal under-20 international the chance to stay in his homeland. Sturgeon is also eligible to play for England through his father and that could play a huge role in his final decision.

Arsenal could be set to miss out on Adrien Rabiot in January as French newspaper L'Equipe has reported that Ajax are hoping to secure a loan deal for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move over the summer, although a deal never transpired and Arsene Wenger may be left kicking himself if his target is snapped up by the Dutch giants.

It is thought that a loan spell away from the French capital would suit the Ligue 1 club more than an outright sale as they can gage the progression of Rabiot when he returns.
