Atletico PR had a wonderful campaign last year as the freshly promoted club finished third in the Campeonato, thus qualifying them for the Copa Libertadores. Not only that, they also made it to the final of the Copa do Brasil, although they were beaten by Flamengo over the two legs.

It's been a tale of woe for the 'Hurricane' this season however as they were dumped out of the Libertadores in the group stage and after 27 league games, they are down in 15th place having won just eight times. 

Doriva's side are only two points clear of the relegation zone and they come into this match on the back of five defeats from six. Even at their home of Arena da Baixada it's two victories in five and they even failed to beat the struggling Bahia.

Figueirense came up from Serie B as the fourth placed team last year but they are holding their own amongst the big boys of Brazil. Although they are just two places and one point above this evening's opponents, both clubs would have had vastly different expectations.

'The Fig Tree' had made an abysmal start this term but since the appointment of a new manager, they have shot up the table. A mere four defeats in 15 underlines their progress and while they've lost their last three on the road, prior to that they had won at Internacional, Vitoria and Chapecoense.

I can't trust Atletico PR at odds-on, especially against an improving side. That's why, with the hosts trading at around the 1.855/6 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
