Football Bet of the Day: Back Sol to go down in Paraguay tonight

We're looking to cheer ourselves up in Paraguay

After a disappointing evening in more ways than one, Kevin Hatchard is looking for a Paraguayan pick-me-up...

Sol de America v Sportivo Luqueno
Saturday November 15, 23:15

The A-Team's Hannibal used to love it when a plan came together, so he would have hated what happened to us last night. We opposed the worst side in Argentina's top flight, against a team that hadn't conceded a goal away from home since August, and it was rock-bottom Defensa y Justicia who came out on top. Their 2-1 win over Atletico Rafaela ended our little run of victories, and to make matters worse my car wouldn't start last night. Ugh.

Chastened, we continue our tour of South America with a visit to Paraguay, for a potentially cracking clash between two of the Division Professional's in-form teams. Sportivo Luqueno, who are third, are paying a visit to ninth-placed Sol de America.

Sportivo are just five points behind the leaders Libertad in the title race, after putting together a nine-match unbeaten run. If we stretch back a bit further, we see that "Kure-Luque" have lost just three times in their 18 league games. Sportivo almost always score - they have drawn a blank on just three occasions this term.

Sol de America are having their best run of the season, having gone unbeaten in their last six games, collecting 12 points in the process. It's a sequence which has more than doubled their points tally in the Clausura. After a run of one goal in five matches between mid-September and mid-October, Los Danzarines have rediscovered their attacking touch, banging in 13 goals in the last six outings.

I was tempted to advise backing Yes in the Both Teams To Score market at 1.715/7, as that has paid out in all of Sol de America's last six matches, and seven of the last eight games involving Sportivo Luqueno.

I still think that's a good bet, but I did a bit of digging into the recent history between the two sides, and Sportivo have the whip hand. In the teams' last eight encounters, Sportivo have won four, and lost just once. On that basis I'm happy to support the visitors Draw No Bet at 2.0421/20.

Now, has anyone got a number for B.A. Baracus? I might need to borrow his van, 'cos I ain't gettin' in no plane, fool!
