On the Slide: Perth Glory's defence is not what it was
Some auld enemies are about to meet in Australia and Tobias Gourlay's expecting fireworks
Perth v Wellington
Friday 10:45
Vitoria 1 Coritiba 1 in Brazil last night. We looked good for Over 2.5 Goals when that was the score before half-time. But they couldn't keep it up after we went to bed.
Now here, really, is the England-Scotland clash you've been waiting for this week.
On Friday morning Kenny Lowe (the very same, Gateshead fans) leads Perth Glory into battle against the Wellington Phoenix of Ernie Merrick (Edinburgh born and bred).
It's early days in the A League, but Perth are top, having won five of their first six games.
These two don't have a draw between them this term and that's in part because they've both been involved in a series of high scorers.
In this game, Perth - scorers of 12 goals in their last five home games - should have little trouble finding ways through a visiting defence that has leaked twice or more in 8/10 away from home.
At the other end, Wellington have scored in 14/17 on the road, while Perth are on a run of eight home games without a clean sheet.
Together, they can get us to three match goals.
This season Perth's three home results are 3-2, 2-1, 2-1. Under Lowe, they've regularly gone high: 15/23 have delivered Over 2.5 Goals, including each of their last six at Nib Stadium.
Since Merrick took charge, Wellington have helped 21/33 get over the line, including 13/17 on the road.
