Can Lanus pull off an impressive win?

The goals are set to flow in Argentina tonight when Independiente host Lanus, according to Paul Robinson.

Following promotion from the second tier last year, Independiente have quickly re-asserted themselves as one of the country's 'Big Five'. After 15 matches back in the Primera Division, they are up in fourth place with 27 points. Victory here would see them move third, just three points behind the stuttering, River Plate.

The key to their success has been in front of goal as Jorge Almirn's side have netted 25 times this season - a record only bettered by the leaders. It's a good job they are that prolific as their defensive record is actually the worst in the top half of the table. All that has led to their matches averaging 3.07 goals each time, with nine of their 15 rewarding under 2.5 layers - five of which came in front of their own fans.

Opponents, Lanus, are enjoying one of their most successful periods in their history as not only are they regular challengers for the league title, they are also the reigning Copa Sudamericana champions. While they won't be retaining that crown this year, 'Granate' are in with a shout of winning the Primera Division for only the second time since the club's inception.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto's are in third place and victory tonight would see them go level on points with River Plate. They do come into the match on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Tigre, but prior to that they had taken 10 points from a possible 12. Three of their last five have featured three goals or more, as have five of their seven on the road this season.

This should be a really good game between two attacking teams. That's why, with under 2.5 goals trading at around the 1.768/11 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
