Lays of the Weekend: Take on Coventry and Newport

Coventry have a mixed record since returning to the Ricoh Arena

Michael Lintorn has identified sides that he expects not to win in League One, League Two and the Conference...

Lay Coventry to beat Notts County @ 2.1411/10

There are a mere two teams across the three Football League divisions yet to be beaten on their league travels. Notts County are one of those yet, despite winning each of their previous three on the road (four if you include cup competitions) they are outsiders to prevail at Coventry.

The Sky Blues are a massive 13 places and nine points behind them in 19th place, two points clear of the relegation zone, and they have delivered one league victory in nine (six defeats) in contrast to the Magpies' one league loss in ten (five wins in six). The hosts have faced the other five top-six clubs without success, being vanquished in both of the two at the Ricoh Arena.

Lay Newport to beat Exeter @ 2.226/5

Exeter will have had nine days to stew on their FA Cup embarrassment away to Warrington by the time that they take to the turf at Rodney Parade and will be rabid to prove that it was an aberration that won't disturb their impressive recent League Two progress.

The Grecians have surged from rock bottom to top half by virtue of a run of just one league defeat in ten compared to four in six at the start. They have triumphed in six of their past nine encounters and last lost an away league match in August.

Newport share Exeter's hard-to-beat nature, but have won only one of their five home clashes with sides boasting 23 points or more (as of November 14).

Lay Torquay to beat Forest Green @ 2.265/4

Torquay were 3-2 winners away at Conference leaders Barnet in midweek in what was by far their most eye-catching result since dropping out of the Football League earlier this year, but they haven't won successive league games since September, and had lost five in six prior to conquering the Bees.

Forest Green by contrast have incurred the joint-fewest Conference defeats this season (three from 19) despite sitting an unspectacular eighth and are unbeaten in seven. They have also been felled just once on their travels, achieving three wins and two draws since a reverse at Nuneaton in early September.
