Things are looking up for Newcastle
Andrew Hughes thinks Newcastle will be too strong for QPR on Saturday and will help to land another Saturday cross-sport multiple
Bet 1: Back Newcastle to beat QPR at 1.855/6
At the beginning of October, Newcastle were at the wrong end of the table and Alan Pardew's job hung by a thread. Seven weeks later, they are up to eighth, after a run of five successive victories in which they have only conceded once.
After a woeful start, QPR have also enjoyed a mini-revival, but they have only earned one point from improved performances against Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool and remain in the relegation zone.
They also have a poor record against Saturday's opponents. Rangers have lost six of their last eight games against the Magpies, haven't beaten them since 1995 and haven't won at St James Park since 1993. Back the home side for another three points.
Bet 2: Back Ireland to beat Australia at 1.75/7
Last time Australia played in Dublin, they won comfortably, but they are likely to find things a lot tougher on Saturday against an Ireland team that is on the up.
Under Joe Schmidt, Ireland have gone from strength to strength, securing the Six Nations title after a heroic display in Paris and kicking off their autumn internationals with an impressive victory over South Africa.
By contrast, Australia have had a turbulent year, marked by a change of coach, a number of associated scandals and a poor Rugby Championship campaign. They earned a narrow win in Cardiff two weeks ago, but last weekend were beaten in Paris and Ireland can hand them their second defeat in a row.
Bet 3: Back Blaz Rola to beat Guilherme Clezar at 1.282/7
Blaz Rola has enjoyed a successful first season as a professional, picking up his first title, and becoming the highest-ranked player in Slovenia, and he has carried that form into the ATP Challenger Tour Finals in Sao Paulo.
Rola has won both of his games so far and in his final Group B match is up against wildcard Guilherme Clezar. The Brazilian should have plenty of support from the home crowd, but is ranked 104 places lower than his opponent and is fortunate to be in the tournament in the first place. Back Rola to make it three from three.
