Is Roberto Mancini set for a Premier League transfer binge?

Steven Gerrard's contract is up next summer and that has led to speculation over his future and the latest club to be reportedly interested are Inter Milan.

Newly-appointed Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini will reportedly return to England in January to raid Manchester City and Liverpool.

Speculation over the weekend and on Monday has linked former City boss Mancini with a host of top-flight talent, none bigger than Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.

The Daily Mirror claim that Inter will offer the 34-year-old the chance to move to Italy in January, with Gerrard's contract at Anfield set to expire at the end of the season.

The former England captain it set to hold talks with the Reds over a new deal but will also listen to offers from elsewhere and is said to be tempted by the chance to finish his career abroad.

Meanwhile, the Mirror also claims that Mancini will look to his old home, the Etihad Stadium, for new recruits in January.

Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov is said to be top of Mancini's wanted list, while Edin Dzeko and Matija Nastasic are also being linked with a move to Inter.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has poured cold water on reports he wants to end Mario Balotelli's Liverpool nightmare by signing him in January.

The Italy international has found the back of the net just twice for the Reds since joining from AC Milan in the summer and boss Brendan Rodgers is already weighing up whether to cut his losses with the enigmatic frontman.

Napoli were said to be interested as they look to bolster their frontline but Benitez has now informed Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport he has no intentions of signing the former City hitman.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also been playing down reports concerning his January business, telling beIN Sports that he does not plan to sell Lukas Podolski.

The German forward hit out at his manager at the weekend over his lack of game time this season, the World Cup winner having managed just 46 minutes of Premier League football this term.

However, Wenger claims to have no interest in letting Podolski leave and has instead challenged him to earn a spot in his starting XI.

Finally and Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is ready to offer 9million for the services of Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi.

The Netherlands international only left Feyenoord in the summer to move to Portugal but that has not put off Koeman, according to the Sun.

The Saints boss knows the powerful 22-year-old well having worked with him at Feyenoord and feels he could add to the south coast club's push for a Champions League spot.
