Transfer Rumours: Liverpool linked with German midfielder star

PSV don't seem to want to sell Kevin Strootman

Sami Khedira has been linked with a move to the Premier League all summer long and he's still getting column inches.

Manuel Pellegrini will remain as Manchester City manager even if they fail to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

The Mirror have stated the Chilean is in danger of failing to meet the club's Champions League demands after managing just one point from their opening two games but the same also report indicates Pellegrini will remain in charge even if City are eliminated in the group stages.

The same newspaper have reported Liverpool are plotting a January move for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, who is planning to force through a move to the Premier League in the winter rather than wait until he is a free agent next summer, but the Anfield outfit will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, Arsenal's interest in Khedira may cool if The Star are to be believed. It emerged earlier this week that Newcastle's midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote is keen to move on in the January transfer window and the Ivorian claimed he had already been in contact with the Gunners. The Star have now claimed Arsenal will be able to land Tiote if they fork out 15million in the January transfer window. It is thought there is interest in the Newcastle star from Russia but Tiote's preference is to remain in the Premier League.

Numerous sources, including the Sun and the Mirror, have reported that Daniel Sturridge is on the verge of signing a new five-year deal with Liverpool and will earn a reported 150,000-a-week.

Meanwhile, Roma boss Rudi Garcia has moved to play down any talk highly-rated midfielder Kevin Strootman could be on the move in January.

The 24-year-old Dutchman has been linked with a move to Manchester United, who are again expected to invest in the winter after a disappointing start to the campaign, where Strootman would link up with his former international manager Louis van Gaal.

Garcia has now stressed he wants to keep hold of the midfielder, but admitted that the final decision rests in the hands of Roma president James Pallotta.

Garcia said: "Is Strootman for sale? You'll have to ask our president.

"But the intention of the club is very clear - Strootman is an important player for us."

Finally, QPR have been tipped to make a move for Stoke's Peter Crouch but the Star have claimed the Potters will offer the striker a new deal in a bid to fend off the interest of Harry Redknapp's side.
