Shanghai Rolex Masters Betting: Confident Klizan can pile on the misery for Ferrer

Martin Klizan in action at the China Open in Beijing Klizan has the power to trouble Ferrer in quick conditions

The big names start their Shanghai Rolex Masters campaigns on Wednesday at the Qi Zhong Tennis Centre and Sean Calvert fancies the odd upset today in China...

Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer begin their tournaments today, alongside David Ferrer, Stan Wawrinka, David Ferrer and Tomas Berdych, while Andy Murray plays his second match of the week.

We managed to get Vasek Pospisil over the line on the handicap quite comfortably in the end yesterday, but it probably should have been a straight sets win for the Canadian.

Following a major meltdown from opponent Santi Giraldo, Pospisil cruised to the win in set three, but he made it tougher than it should have been for himself.

Wednesday could hold a few possibilities for upsets and not least with Nadal, who, according to rumours doing the rounds, is suffering from appendicitis at the moment.

That doesn't sound great and it should give a decent chance for opponent Feli Lopez to land a big win, but reportedly he too has some sort of stomach problem.

The 3.02/1 about Lopez winning the opening set appeals here, with Lopez having played a three setter on Tuesday, which should give him an advantage over Rafa in terms of familiarity with the conditions.

Nadal has been no bigger than 1.051/20 in his last four matches with Lopez and today's 1.282/7 gives a big clue as to Rafa's condition and it's worth a Cash Out bet on Lopez in these circumstances.

Another Spaniard who is struggling at the moment - but for different reasons - is Ferrer, whose form has been wretched for a while now and in quick conditions he surely won't fancy facing Martin Klizan.

The Slovak took down a below par Nadal in Beijing last week with somewhere near his best power tennis and the same tactics could certainly work against a Ferrer in turmoil.

The world number five is unlikely to make the World Tour Finals at the moment and hasn't won a match since splitting with his coach Jose Altur after the US Open.

Losses to Gilles Simon in New York, Viktor Troicki in Shenzhen and Marcel Granollers in Beijing make this a very winnable match for Klizan and the 3.259/4 on the Beijing semi finalist looks decent.

Again, Klizan has the advantage of having one match under his belt here, which was a win over big serving Aussie Sam Groth and all the factors are there for a possible upset in the first career meeting between Klizan and Ferrer.

Elsewhere, Murray should have a more comfortable time against Jerzy Janowicz than he did last week in Beijing when the racquet received a good hiding for its troubles.

Janowicz was pretty average and rather fortunate in the end to get the win over Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Tuesday and even in these quick conditions I can't see past a Murray win here.

Recommended Bets
Back Lopez to win set one vs Nadal at 3.02/1
Back Klizan to beat Ferrer at 3.259/4
