There are two televised showdowns on Wednesday night: one between Cheltenham and Bristol City in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and the other combining Kidderminster and Welling in the Conference. We have a best bet for both...

Cheltenham v Bristol City
Wednesday, 19:45
Live on Sky Sports 2

Match Odds: Cheltenham 4.77/2, Bristol City 1.910/11, The Draw 3.7511/4

This writer backed Bristol City for promotion in pre-season, but could never have imagined such a blissful start. Eleven League One games have produced seven triumphs and four draws to lift the Robins - a nickname shared with Cheltenham - four points clear of second-placed Swindon as leaders.

However, possessing such strong prospects of regaining their Championship place at the second attempt means that cup competitions become less vital. Steve Cotterill's men exited the Capital One Cup at home to League Two strugglers Oxford.

The same term could be applied to Bristol City's south-west neighbours Cheltenham, who have dropped from top spot in the fourth tier to tenth following a run of six fixtures without success. The one constant of all those encounters, and indeed 11 of their overall 13 to date in 2014/15, has been under 2.5 goals.

Recommended Bet: Back under 2.5 goals @ 2.111/10

Kidderminster v Welling
Wednesday, 19:45
Live on BT Sport 1

Match Odds: Kidderminster 1.584/7, Welling 7.06/1, The Draw 4.3100/30

Kidderminster are eight places and seven points above their opponents for this televised Conference clash. However, that tells the story of the first month of the season - in which they occupied a play-off place after four wins and three draws in seven and Welling were winless on three points - rather than what has happened since.

Now, Welling are unbeaten in five and have lost one in seven, whereas the hosts have delivered just two victories and suffered defeat four times in the same period. The Wings, having taken zero points from their initial five, haven't been conquered in two road trip, while Kidderminster haven't won in two at Aggborough.

Recommended Bet: Lay Kidderminster to win @ 1.594/7
