Rumours: Yaya reported to be set for City exit

Could Yaya Toure be set for a new challenge?

Yaya Toure has struggled to hit the heights of his 2013-2014 campaign and there are reports today that he is set for a departure from Manchester City.

Fiorentina are lining up a shock loan move for Arsenal star Theo Walcott just days after his return from a serious injury.

The Sun is suggesting the Serie A outfit are looking to bring the England international to Tuscany as he looks to work his way back up to full match fitness. Walcott has been recovering from a serious knee injury picked up last season and Fiorentina have wasted little time in trying to tempt the Gunners into letting the winger leave north London on a temporary basis.

In a deal that looks much more likely in getting off the ground, the Gunners are looking to sign Manchester United defender Chris Smalling in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror. The England utility defender was linked with a switch to the capital over the summer but instead Arsenal managed to secure the services of Three Lions striker Danny Welbeck from United. Manager Arsene Wenger apparently has not given up hope of luring Smalling to the Emirates and will be set to offer 10million for the defender, according to a report.

Moving on to news from Manchester City and The Times has claimed Yaya Toure could be set to move to pastures new after what has been a disappointing campaign so far. The Ivory Coast star was a revelation last season, helping City reclaim the Premier League and win the Capital One Cup, but has failed to live up to those standards this season amid claims of unrest.

City would have no problem finding a buyer for Toure should he wish to move and the club are believed to have highlighted Everton's Ross Barkley and Juventus star Paul Pogba as candidates who can fill the void.

Finally, West Brom are working hard to get a new deal over the line for Saido Berahino, with clubs looking to snap up the striker in the January window. The Sun suggests the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United are considering a bid for the 21-year-old, who has just earned a call-up to the full England squad ahead of encounters with Slovenia and Scotland.

Baggies boss Alan Irvine is determined to keep the youngster at the Hawthorns following his scintillating start to the Premier League campaign. Berahino is the highest-scoring Englishman in the top flight this term so it's not surprising he is being chased by Premier League rivals as he looks to make a strong start to his Three Lions career.
