Botafogo could really do with the three points

It's that time of the week where Paul Robinson selects a home win, an away win, a match to go over 2.5 goals and a match to go under 2.5 goals. Here are his selections...

Bet 1: Botafogo RJ (HOME) @ 2.45 (29/20)  

Botafogo are enduring a miserable campaign as last year's fourth placed finishers are second from bottom this time around having won just seven of their 26 matches this term. The good news is that it's a very tight division and they are actually only six points off Figueirense in 11th.

Vgner Mancini's side have lost their last three in all competitions but they faced some tough opposition during that run - Gremio and Santos - and they managed to beat Goias on this ground a fortnight ago.

Opponents, Palmeiras are in 15th place and they've won two of their last three. The victories came in front of their own fans though and on the road it's just it's just two points from a possible 30 for Dorival Jnior's men.

Bet 2: Bristol City (AWAY) @ 1.85 (17/20) - Live on Sky Sports 2 at 19:45 BST

Bristol City are riding high at the top of League One after beginning the season 11 matches unbeaten. Their sole blemish came in the Capital One Cup where they threw away a 1-0 lead at home to Oxford United.

Steve Cotterill may well play a weakened XI this evening, but even so, the mood around the camp should inspire the rest of the squad and they travel to a Cheltenham team who are a division below them.

Not only that, Mark Yates' Robins are also six without victory and they have picked up just two points from a possible nine at Whaddon Road recently.

Bet 3: Cruzeiro v Corinthians (Over 2.5 goals) @ 2.3 (13/10)   

Cruzeiro are running away with the Campeonato once again as the defending champions are nine points clear at the top with only a dozen games to go. 

While 'A Raposa' don't have the greatest defence, their sheer scoring power has put them in this position. With 51 scored and 26 conceded, their matches this term are averaging 2.96 goals each time. 14 of their outings have finished with over 2.5 goals and their last five home scorelines have been 4-2, 2-1, 2-0, 2-3 and 2-1.

Corinthians looked like they might challenge Cruzeiro for the title a couple of months ago but their form has since tailed off and they are now fighting for a spot in next year's Copa Libertadores.

Their goal stats don't make as good reading as tonight's opponents - only half a dozen matches have had three or more goals scored - but it is worth noting that two of those occurred during the last three weeks.

Bet 4: Gremio v Sport Recife (Under 2.5 goals) @ 1.57 (4/7)  

Gremio fell to their first defeat in eight matches at the weekend as they lost 1-0 at home to Sao Paulo. That was the first goal they'd conceded since the end of August and with Phil Scolari in charge, you are safe to assume that their emphasis will be on defence rather than attack.

'Imortal' have had their last 10 games go under 2.5 goals - eight going under 1.5 - and with their fixtures averaging a mere 1.38 goals per 90 minutes this season, they must be the most boring team to watch in the entire division.

Sport Recife are enjoying a fine campaign following promotion last year. They are up in ninth place and are actually closer to the top four than the relegation zone. 

As far as the goals go, 16 of their 26 in the league have finished with two goals or fewer and that includes a quartet of 0-0 draws. Eduardo Baptista's team have also only scored just once in their last eight on the road.
