Johnstone's Paint Trophy Tips: AFC Wimbledon will net

AFC Wimbledon have twice visited stadiummk without success

Michael Lintorn offers a back, a lay and a both-teams-to-score bet for the latest Johnstone's Paint Trophy action...

(All games start at 19:45 on Tuesday)

Coventry v Exeter

Match Odds: Coventry 1.758/11, Exeter 5.69/2, The Draw 3.9n/a

Coventry's Ricoh Arena return isn't working out as wonderfully as first looked likely when they opened stint two with victories over Gillingham and Yeovil. Since then, they have been conquered 0-2 by Preston and drawn 2-2 with Crawley as part of a four-game winless streak at all venues.

Exeter are 23 places below them in the enormous English football pyramid, but a great deal chipper after transforming a start that saw them go eight encounters without success with four consecutive triumphs. Three of those arrived on the road, yet the other was arguably even more impressive, coming against League Two leaders Bury.

Recommended Bet: Lay Coventry to win @ 1.768/11

MK Dons v AFC Wimbledon

Match Odds: MK Dons 1.538/15, AFC Wimbledon 7.413/2, The Draw 4.67/2

The AFC Wimbledon fans who deny rivalry with MK Dons, instead preferring not to acknowledge their existence, are having their task made complex by those tasked with picking balls out of bags. Having been paired together in the Capital One Cup just two months ago, they now meet again in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The London-based Dons were defeated on their two prior trips to punctuation-denying stadiummk, yet found the net on both occasions and will fancy their chances of doing so again. They have fired one blank in 13 fixtures across all competitions this season and MK Dons conceded an average of a goal a match over their past three as hosts.

Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score @ 1.834/5

Preston v Port Vale

Match Odds: Preston 1.715/7, Port Vale 5.79/2, The Draw 4.1n/a

It often seems as though the cup ties that appear the biggest bankers are the ones most vulnerable to conjuring inexplicable upsets, but there is so much to like about Preston's prospects that it would be folly to turn down the opportunity to back them at 1.715/7 against Port Vale.

This is fifth-versus-22nd in League One and Preston - who did a double over the Valiants in 2013/14 - have won their last three games by two-goal margins, whereas the visitors have lost seven in nine. PNE are unbeaten in 17 at Deepdale too and, while they have been held three times there this term, the point-pinchers were all top-half teams.

Recommended Bet: Back Preston to win @ 1.715/7
