Karim Benzema is not coming to the EPL this summer
Lots of money has been spent this summer but plenty more will be splashed. Who might be on the move? Alex Johnson rounds up the latest.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Manchester United have moved ahead of Barcelona in the race to sign Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen.
After falling down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, the Belgian is likely to leave the club this summer and the Blaugrana looked in the driving seat after tabling a 10million bid on Tuesday, but Old Trafford is believed to be his preferred destination and United will have no problem matching the offer.
To the Red Devils' local rivals and Manchester City are expected to finally complete their move for Porto's Eliaquim Mangala from Porto on Thursday, according to the Daily Mirror.
French defender Mangala has been linked with the Citizens throughout the summer and it is now believed that the two clubs have agreed a 32million fee.
The same paper is also reporting that Daniel Agger has asked his Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to let him leave Anfield to join Barcelona, with the Dane believed to be valued at around 12million.
Tottenham are thought to be close to a deal to sign Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, with the Daily Express suggesting a fee of 10million plus Nacer Chadli will be enough to persuade the Dutch club to sell.
Elsewhere, West Brom boss Alan Irvine says he wants to make two or three more signings, according to the Birmingham Mail.
Irvine has been busy since arriving at the club earlier this summer and is thought to be close to sealing a six million euros move for Parma winger Jonathan Biabiany.
West Ham owner David Sullivan has also suggested that the Hammers are set to continue their transfer spree, telling the club's official website that they have made bids for three unnamed strikers.
Burnley are also looking to strengthen their ranks, with the Daily Mail reporting they have had a 3.5million bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury rejected, although Sean Dyche is expected to improve the offer in the next few days.
Looking abroad and German magazine Kicker say that AC Milan are close to agreeing a deal for Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez, while Karim Benzema is staying at the Bernabeu after signing a new five-year-deal.
Finally, Juventus are on the lookout for a new striker, with Tuttosport suggesting they are planning to make bids for Manchester United's Javier Hernandez, Paris Saint-Germain's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester City's Stevan Jovetic.
