Against All Odds: Coritiba's struggles to continue

Coritiba are rock bottom of the Campeonato having managed to pick up only a dozen points from their opening 15 fixtures. It's been a disastrous campaign for the Paran based club and they have their work cut out to avoid relegation after managing a mid-table finish last year.

New man in charge, Celso Roth, has to shoulder some of the blame as since his arrival in the close-season, 'Coxa' have won just two league games. They come into this fixture at a low ebb following a 1-0 home defeat by the struggling Flamengo and that means it's now three home games since they even scored a goal.

Vitoria aren't doing too much better than their opponents as they are in 16th place with 15 points. They've only been beaten six times though and if they could just turn some of those draws into victories, they should be fine from a relegation stand point.

Jorginho's side are in relatively decent form at the moment as they've lost just one of their last five and that came at Sao Paulo. 'Leo da Barra' drew 0-0 with Chapecoense on Sunday and they've also recently recorded victories at Criciuma and at home to Gremio.

The price of Coritiba is simply absurd in my eyes and this could well be the lay of the season. That's why, with the hosts trading at around the 1.824/5 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
