Mackay was backed at 1.01 to be next Palace manager
Malky Mackay looked a done deal to be Crystal Palace's new manager but now it seems the club are looking elsewhere with the Scotsman out to double figure odds having traded at 1.011/100...
It's been another interesting day at Crystal Palace.
After the drama of Tony Pulis's departure last Thursday, the stories this morning were all about the imminent announcement of Malky Mackay as manager.
And so certain did it seem that the Scotsman would be named as the next Palace manager that punters were prepared to take the basement price of 1.011/100 on the exchange.
But this afternoon it seems that Mackay will not be getting the job after all, with a last-minute hitch over his backroom team upsetting the deal. It is reported that the club wanted assistant manager Keith Millen and first team coach ben Garner to stay on.
At the time of writing the former Cardiff manager is 10.09/1 to back in an extremely fast moving market.
Tim Sherwood is the market's idea of the next manager with the ex-Spurs man currently 3.211/5 to get the job.
Likely other options include Martin Jol, Steve Clarke and Millen.
