Memphis Depay broke out as a Netherlands star at the World Cup
Michael Lintorn picks out the best bets in the Eredivisie's three televised matchday three fixtures...
Zwolle v Vitesse
Sunday, 11:30
Live on Sky Sports 5
Match Odds: Zwolle 3.052/1, Vitesse 2.427/5, The Draw 3.7511/4
Vitesse have kicked off 2014/15 as unconvincingly as they ended 2013/14, a 1-4 loss at Ajax and 2-2 home draw with Cambuur stretching their winless league run to nine games and putting pressure on coach Peter Bosz.
By contrast, Zwolle are emerging as one of the Eredivisie's most admirable clubs, finishing 11th again last term in their second year back up, beating Ajax to the Dutch Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield (Super Cup) and beginning this campaign with two victories. In fact, they have achieved six successive August league triumphs. As outsiders, they are an attractive option in the "draw no bet" market.
Recommended Bet: Back Zwolle (draw no bet) to win @ 2.26/5
Feyenoord v Utrecht
Sunday, 13:30
Live on Sky Sports 5
Match Odds: Feyenoord 1.444/9, Utrecht 8.415/2, The Draw 5.14/1
Fred Rutten's PSV and Vitesse sides were lively starters, instead waiting for the run-in to reveal their shortcomings, but Guus Hiddink's former assistant hasn't found the early action easy at Feyenoord, where of course the departure of numerous stars hasn't helped. They crept past ten-man ADO Den Haag right at the finish on the opening weekend before sharing spoils when hosting Heerenveen.
The combination of their head-to-head supremacy over Utrecht (they are undefeated in 16 clashes, winning 11, including each of the previous four) and the visitors' injury problems) gives them a great chance of three points this time out. They haven't led at the interval in seven matches though, being level at half time in four straight league outings, so will likely require more second-half magic.
Recommended Bet: Back the half-time draw/full-time Feyenoord win @ 4.84/1
Ajax v PSV
Sunday, 15:45
Live on Sky Sports 5
Match Odds: Ajax 1.910/11, PSV 4.3100/30, The Draw 4.03/1
It isn't outrageous to wonder if Dutch football's moneymen have tried to trip perma-champions Ajax and deliver a livelier title race by making them face four of the last season's top eight in their first four matches. However, if that was the plan, it's backfiring. They overcame Vitesse 4-1 after an initial struggle, prevailed 3-1 at AZ Alkmaar and are now odds-on to beat fellow faultless starters PSV.
Whatever the outcome, PSV should score, having done so nine times in their first two games and 11 times in five meetings with Ajax. Memphis Depay braced up against Willem II and NAC Breda to fuel the idea that he has outgrown the Eredivisie, but a new four-year deal this week hints that he will see out 2014/15. Back the 20-year-old to add to both his tally and his hype at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Recommended Bet: Back Memphis Depay to score @ 3.814/5
